Planning a trip at Chicago O'Hare International Airport? This guide helps you discover the most reliable taxi transfer in Chicago, Illinois. Avoid overpaying by calculating your fare in advance.
O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is one of the world's busiest hubs, serving the Chicago metropolitan area. Located about 17 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop, O’Hare offers a variety of transportation options, with taxis being the preferred choice for a direct, weather-protected trip into the "Windy City."
Taxi stands are located on the lower level (Arrivals) of Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5. At Terminals 1, 2, and 3, stands are situated outside the baggage claim area. At International Terminal 5, the taxi stand is located outside Door 5E. Note: All taxis from O'Hare use a meter, but there are shared ride programs available for flat rates to certain locations.
| Destination | Estimated Fare | Approx. Time | Service |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Loop (Downtown Chicago) | $40 - $60 | 35-60 mins | Metered |
| Near North Side / Magnificent Mile | $45 - $65 | 40-70 mins | Metered |

*A $4.00 airport departure tax is added to all fares. Shared ride fares to the Loop are often available for a flat $24.00 per person.
Chicago winters can be brutal. Taxis are much better than rideshares at O'Hare because they are waiting right outside the arrivals doors in a semi-enclosed area, meaning you won't have to wait in the cold for your driver to arrive from a remote lot.
